Community Voices

We are pleased to present the creative works of our community around the exploration of stillness.    Our intention is both to delight you and to stimulate and support you in creating and maintaining a deeply relaxed body and quiet mind.

We only endorse those events and opinions specifically created by principals of At Ease Technologies. All other information is provided as a service to you.

Cornelia Powell
began writing after a trip to China in 2000, so moved by the expansive quality of the experience. She is currently writing a book inspired by her relationships with women in her former bridal art-to-wear shop in Atlanta, sharing how she used stories of ancient myth and ritual to deepen a woman's experience of preparing for her marriage.

Cornelia is a student of expanding consciousness. She has sponsored Living At Ease workshops in the Atlanta area and currently edits At Ease's monthly newsletter. Contact her at www.corneliapowell.com.

TRILOGY FOR ROBERT & CYNTHIA,

by Cornelia Powell

No. 1 (3/27/03, written & read during the Week at Ease)

Letting Go

I let go of looking, and see all.
I let go of thinking, and knowing doesn't matter.
I let go of searching, and everything comes to me.
I want for nothing, and have all I desire.

I let go of counting, and live in abundance.
I let go of trying, and the world is mine.
I open my heart, and your love is already there.
I surrender to stillness, and pleasure knows my name.

No. 2 (4/10/03, written & read during the series of Week at Ease conference calls)

A Little Tenderness

They whisper,
be tender with your new revealing self

honoring the 10,000 lifetimes of anciently wise ones
who have guided us to this place of blessedness.
The spaces here in the deep -
underneath our psyche
like elongated Olympian muscles,
require our attentiveness and respect.

We are here to feast on the blessing itself:
kneading the dough like a meditation,
heating the oven just so
baking the patient nature, rising to its ripeness
serving the warm crusted loaf
eating the succulent fruit bread
tasting the embryonic grain seeds from which it sprang
Savoring the life of a seed.

Stretched and well-nourished,
here I stand, suspended, yet the all of me knows no fear
and the less of me hears whatever is required to float out to sea,
blowing all of my attention into the spaces of the whale's song,
receiving my life in return.

No. 3 (6/24/03, written after reading notes from Robert's comments during Week at Ease conference calls)

Robert's Song

Quiet and settled, the space has been carved out
morning is breaking into the colors of the day.
An abundance of destinations between here and nightfall,
between stillness and darkness.

How many degrees of stillness will I visit
before the sun sets with all of me in it?
How many dewdrops will have my fingerprint
come the new light of day?

Do the birdsongs remember my name?
Will the rooster remember to crow,
and the crow remember to caw,
and the cows remember to low?

Will the crickets forget to ignite the bull frogs' serenade
and the heat of the summer sun forget to wake the cicadas?
Will the hydrangeas forget a thousand shades of sunset,
and music forget its rhythm?

The migration has begun and aligns with eternity,
offering up what the dawn has always known:
I don't have to remember anything,
it's already in my cells.
